Clann na nGael

Ladies Player of the Year

2009

Commitment and dedication are two words that would describe this year's "Ladies Player of the Year". She has a plethora of medals with the club, U-16, Minor, Junior, Intermediate and Senior championships. She was also a key member of the Senior Connacht winning team in 1995 and the Clann Intermediate team who reached the All-Ireland Final in 2002. She has played for Roscommon at underage and adult level for numerous years at both half-back and half-forward, showing her versatility and fitness levels. She was on the Roscommon junior team who lost to Louth in 1998 in Croke Park and she also represented Connacht at inter-provincial level.

This lady has tremendous leadership qualities aided by skill, strength and speed. In training she is first to every task and willing to work to a standstill and always bringing the best out of her team mates. In 2007 she received a career threatening injury. Through the pain barrier she worked hard on rehabilitation, so that she was back wearing the Clann jersey in May of 2009. Within a couple of matches she was back to her best and even better, having discovering she had a left foot during rehabilitation. Off the field she has given a lot back to the Club and was involved with both ladies U-12 teams who won county titles in 2009.

It is a mixture of these attributes, her dedication to her fellow team-mates and club, and some exceptional performances that ensure that for a second time, after a 14 year gap, the worthy recipient of the Clann na nGael "Ladies Player of the Year” award for 2009 is
