INTERNATIONAL RULES
On Sunday last Johnstown hosted an international game for the first time in the clubs history. Australia came with a big reputation but Ireland put them to the sword with a 79 to 8 win in the B game.
In the A game scores were that little bit harder to get and Australia ran out 31 to 25 winners. This result sets up a great second test which will be played in St Ann’s club in Dublin. A great day was had by all in the clubhouse before, during and after the games.
The club would like to thank the Australian and Irish teams for their presentations in Sunday evening. The day wouldn’t have been possible if it wasn’t for all the help received on the day. So thank you to all those who helped out on the day.
U21 CHAMPIONSHIP
Clann na nGael 1 – 5 Castlerea 0 – 6
The Clann na nGael u 21 team played their first game in the championship in a stormy Ballinlough on Saturday last. The game had been switched from Castlerea earlier in the day. This didn’t faze Clann as they raced into a 1-3 to 0-2 half time lead.
Clann had to dig deep in the second half as both Castlerea and the elements came on strong. Clann held on for a deserved win and now go on to play Padraig Pearses on Saturday
