The following was sent in by Chris Parsons:
Just got home from the Maire Brennan show in Philadelphia.
What a show! Maire and the band sounded FANTASTIC!
She opened with Doon Well from Perfect Time, and closed
the evening out with A Mhuirnin O from Landmarks.
Scattered throughout her 95 minute set were:
The Big Rock, Perfect Time, Na Paisti and Heal This Land from
Perfect Time; Oro and Against The Wind from Maire; and Nil Se'n La,
Harry's Game, I Will Find You, and Alasdair MacColla from assorted
Clannad albums. There were plenty more songs, mostly traditional and
scattered throughout, but I can't think of the titles! She explained
almost all
of the Gaelic tunes, translating the titles and giving us the storyline.
She was
in great spirits, treating us to some of her dance steps and laughing
with
the band. The turnout was pretty low, about 200 people ( the TLA holds
about a thousand ), but they were loud and energetic! Maire stated
towards
the end of the show that "she would be back in town VERY soon". Wonder
what
that means? I can only hope its a visit from Clannad!
Thanks to Chris for sending notes on the Máire Brennan concert in Philadelphia at
the Theater Of The Living Arts (TLA) on March 13th.
Anyone else have reactions to the shows? Please be
free to send them to the
Unofficial Clannad News Page and
we'll include them on the page.
