CLARE STAGES RALLY 1988

In 1988 David Hogan and Dermot Kelleher put together three stages in the Ruan-Kilnaboy area.  A good entry was received with names like Frank O’Mahony (Chevette),  Ken Lyons (Escort), Vincent Meade and George Drew (both in Manta 400’s), Willie Singleton (G3), Declan Wilmott (Escort) and Eamon McAleenan (Starlet).

A very strong intense battle was had all day with Declan Wilmott, a Clare Motor Club Member, winning the event from Ken Lyons and Willie Murphy from Kerry in third position.  The top Clareman was Pat Canny in the Peugeot 205 who finished in sixth place overall. The rally finished back in the Amber Inn, the official rally headquarters.
