Tullynally
Castle has been the home of the Packenham family, Earls of Longford, for over
350 years. We will be greeted by the
present owner and guided through the house to view the collection of furniture
and pictures, the Victorian kitchens and laundries. There will be time to visit the magnificent gardens, terraced
lawns, woodland gardens and ornamental lakes.
The walled gardens and Chinese and Tibetan gardens are magnificent.
After
lunch we will visit Locke’s Distillery Museum at Kilbeggan – the oldest
licensed distillery in the world. We
will see the ancient process of whiskey making, the steam engine, water wheel
and the artefacts on display in the museum followed by a little product
tasting.
Lunch and snacks are available to buy in Mullingar.
Price of €30 includes transport by coach from Glenalbyn Car Park, entry
fees and morning coffee.
