Exhibition

On Thursday 2nd May 2002 Galway County Development Board held an EXHIBITION of COMMUNITY ACHIEVEMENT and SEMINAR on FUTURE CHALLENGES for Community / Voluntary sector.
The Function was held in Glenamaddy Community Centre, and facilitated by Martin Ward from Glinsk.

All Groups affiliated to the Forum in the Tuam Electoral Area were invited to participate.
The Exhibition was open from 4.00 to 8.00pm.
Various Groups attended, and displayed their activities by using photographs, graphics, maps and printed material of all descriptions.

Part of the Theme of the day was for Groups to display their plans for the next five-year period.

Seminar

At 8.00 pm various guests spoke to the large crowd which had gathered. Among these were Eamear Dolan from the County Development Board, Donal O'Donoghue the County Manager, John Joe Conwell from Portumna IRD, Pat Foley from Galway Rural Development, Martin Ward from Glinsk Community Development, with the KEYNOTE ADDRESS from FR. HARRY BOHAN.

Fr. Harry, who initially became well known through Rural Housing Organisation, is now the Institute Director of Céifin, International Institute For Values-Led Change.

Fr. Harry spoke at length on the new work that was required in a changing world. In the past it was required to develop houses, but now he said that it was more important to develop the person. Céifin is an International Institute for Values-led Change. It derives its name from Ceibhfhionn, the Celtic Goddess of Inspiration.
Céifin arises from practical experience, thought-provoking conferences, serious academic debate and grassroots consultation.
The Céifin principle is that 'change driven by values puts people at the centre'.
Céifin studies change to drive practical action.
Céifin is a practical intervention strategy.
