Emmanuel House of Providence

Programme of meetings and services at Emmanuel House

Please note that the Centre closes for one month during the summer. Some parts of the programme may be cancelled during Emmanuel House pilgrimages or at other times. Details of all changes will be given on the 'Emmanuel House of Providence' page.

All are welcome at each of the occasions listed below. It is not necessary to book in advance or to inform Emmanuel House of your intention to come.

Sunday Each Sunday afternoon from 3.00 p.m. to 5.00 p.m. we have Eucharistic Adoration in the Oratory. The most Blessed Sacrament is exposed and prayers, including the Rosary and the Chaplet of the Divine Mercy are said in common. We consider this time of prayer as being extremely important for the ministry of Emmanuel House. Please come and join in this prayer, if you are in the vicinity. If you are not in this area on Sunday afternoons, please pray frequently that God will continue to bless the work of Emmanuel House.

Monday Each Monday we have a prayer meeting at 8.00 p.m. This is another part of the backup of prayer that is so essential for our ministry. The prayer meeting ends at 9.30 p.m. or shortly after. Towards the end of the meeting there is a time for 'Lectio Divina' where those present are invited to reflect on the Gospel of the following Sunday's Mass.

Tuesday Each Tuesday we have a further time of prayer for the ministry of Emmanuel House. At 10.30 a.m. a few people meet for Morning Prayer from the Breviary, five decades of the Rosary and the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass.

Wednesday Each Wednesday we have a Healing Service which starts at 12.00 noon. The Service opens with the exposition of the most Blessed Sacrament with hymns and prayers, after which Eddie Stones speaks to those present. Then he invites those who wish to come forward and he, or members of his prayer team, lays hands on them and prays. It is not uncommon that people 'rest in the Spirit' when he prays. This means that they fall back (there is always someone standing behind to catch them) and lie on the floor. This is a sign of a special blessing from God on that person. Meanwhile one or more priests are available for the Sacrament of Reconciliation, which is a central part of the ministry of Emmanuel House. The Healing Service ends with Holy Mass at 3.00 p.m. There is a break at about 12.15 p.m. for lunch. People are asked to bring a packed lunch. Tea, milk, sugar and biscuits are provided in the tea room.

Thursday Each Thursday we have a Healing Service which starts at 7.00 p.m. The format of the Thursday Service is exactly the same as the Wednesday Service, except that there is no break. The Thursday Holy Mass begins at about 9.00 p.m. and ends about 10.00 p.m.

Last Saturday of the Month (except December). On the last Saturday of the month we have our 'Healing Day' when up to 1,000 people from all over Ireland and beyond assemble here to pray for healing. The Healing Day starts at 10.30 a.m. Like the Healing Services, the day opens with the exposition of the Most Blessed Sacrament and prayers and hymns, and then there are talks by Eddie and by the chaplain, Fr. Michael Kennedy. There is a break for people to eat their packed lunches at 1.00 p.m. (Tea, etc., are provided as on Wednesdays and Thursdays). At 2.00 p.m. Eddie and his team lay hands individually on all who wish and pray for them, as at the Healing Services. Before the lunch break priests are available for the Sacrament of Reconciliation and after lunch at least ten priests are there to celebrate this very important Sacrament. The day ends with Holy Mass which begins at about 4.00 p.m.

Special Celebrations, e.g. Divine Mercy Sunday, Evening for the Holy Souls, Days for married couples, priests, youth, Visiting speakers, etc., will be mentioned on the 'Emmanuel House of Providence' page.

Emmanuel House Shop, where you can buy religious objects, books, videos, CD's, Mass cards, etc., is open during the breaks and after the Masses at Healing Services and on the Healing days.
