Temple Dowling
This church dates from the 9th century and is one of the oldest still in existance. It is 31 feet long by 16 feet. it has one fine window- the east window which is round-headed and cut from a single piece of stone. The other three windows are of little importance and are merely just three narrow slits.
Its name seems to have come from that of its restorer either Doulin or Dowling who caried out repair on the west end in 1869, which included the provision of "a rather crude Gothic style doorway" as well as some roofing work.
A stone panal above yhe doorway of the church has an ornate Coat of Arms and bears the inscription "Edmond Dowling of Clondalare who built this chapel to the Greater Glory of God of his posterity 689 A.D.".
