The crosier of clonmacnoise is indeed a very beautifully decorated crozier and is also very famous as it can still be seen today. It was conferred on to the Bishop of the Clonmacnoise area the bishop would carry the crozier along with him almost every where he went. The crozier was really a sign of the fact that they were in fact a bishop. A bishop travelling through his own area would have the crook of the crozier facing forward while in another bishops he would leave it facing backwards.
