VILLA CUP WIN MAKES HEADLINES  
Our recent success in the Amateur Cup has made the newspapers! On Monday 25th February 2002 The Evening Herald summarised the events of our famous victory over Glasnevin FC as follows:  

'TARF TOPPLE DIGGERS IN CUP SHOCK

  
"Leinster Football Association Cup wonders Glasnevin FC's impressive cup form left them last week as Second Division Clontarf Villa pulled off a cup shocker by beating the Major Division side at Albert College.  
Two goals from Villa's Ciaran Kearney put them ahead and although Darragh English pulled one back for the Diggers, it was not going to be their day.  
Michael Logan reasserted the visitors two goal advantage and although English reduced the arrears again, Villa held out to advance to the next round."
