Robotic Nature Quiz Project Outline
First & Second Class Project
Pupils built a robot that would follow a black line around a board. They composed a series of nature questions and placed groups of questions at different locations around the track of the black line. Children were asked questions in turn. The question to be asked depended on where the robot stopped next.

Reading
Children read a wide range of nature books.
They were highly motivated and sought out books from a variety of sources:
Books from school library.
Books from home and county library.
Books borrowed from friends in senior classes.
Research
Pupils learned a wealth of new knowledge.
They were excited about new discoveries they made e.g. The Platypus, The Kit Fox, Shark’s Teeth.
Language Development & Writing
Pupils wrote out questions diligently and carefully knowing they would appear in print.
They learned how to pose questions.
They learned how to phrase a question to which there would be only one answer.
They learned the spelling of many basic words, especially ‘question words’.
Word Processing
Pupils typed out the questions they themselves had composed.
They checked their questions for Spelling, Capital letters, Question marks / Full stops, Spacing.
Art & Craft
Pupils designed a background for the Nature Quiz track.
They decided on a pond with animals and birds.
Infants made plasticine animals elephant giraffe horse and swans.
