The committee of Cloonfad Utd FC decided to distribute E5,000 of the jackpot which had built up to over E10,000 immediately after Christmas if the jackpot wasn't won by then. It so happened that the jackpot wasn't won so on 2/1/05 a "lucky dip" draw was made whereby 5 envelopes were drawn at random from all the entries in that nights lotto draw. Each winner received E1,000 each and were presented with their winning cheques the following week.

The five winners were: Dorothy Griffin (Cloonfad), Sean Jennings (Culkeen), Darragh McDonnell  (Gurteen), Shauna Fleming (Lavallyroe), being held by PJ, Martin Kelly (Kiltevna) and club treasurer David Kirrane.

THE TUAM DIOCESAN HISTORY
Great interest is being shown in the forthcoming illustrated History of the Archdiocese to be published in early March.  The book of 160 pages in hardback will be sold at fifteen Euro per copy but only through parishes.  The book is not likely to be reprinted and as such may well become a collector's item containing so much accessible information and a superb work of publishing.  A special section is included on each parish and well known local historians have contributed to these parish histories.  A general history of the diocese is also provided.  The book will be of interest to all that love their local parish and to students and former parishioners.
