CONGRATULATIONS

Congratulations to Raymond Kirrane, Cloonfad and Regina Dyar, Ballyhaunis who get married in Breaffy Church on Sunday August 12th. We wish them a lifetime of health and happiness.

FAS

There are still positions available of Secretary and general operatives for Kiltullagh Development Scheme which includes Cloonfad. The scheme begins shortly. Applicants must be on the live register for 12months. Apply to any member of the development committee.

  • Articles, old photographs, Wedding & 21st’s, are needed and appreciated.
  • Competition for a cover Photograph – Winning photo will be the cover. Photo needs to be a local landmark or scene and is to exclude people.

We urgently need all articles and organisation updates as the closing date is getting very near. Please hand in articles, photographs etc to John O’Malley or any member of the magazine committee. Thank You.

COMPETITION

An Art competition will be held in conjunction with the Abbey Pattern Ballyhaunis. Entries will be taken for 7 and under, 12 and under, 13 and over. With Summer time as the subject, entries will be taken up on Monday 20th August at the Scout Den between 7-8pm. All entries will be displayed in the den on the day of the Pattern August 26 with results of all categories, prizes will be given on the day. Entry Fee.

Waste Treatment Facility

Anyone who wishes to lodge an objection with Roscommon Co. Council
regarding the proposed Waste Treatment Facility should do so in the coming weeks, quoting file ref: 01-1029.  There is no fee.

Tug of War:- Congratulations to  the Cloonfad Tug O War Team who won Gold medals in the All Ireland Tug O War 560K. championship in Fermoy on Sunday last August 12th.  The club also won silver medals in the U -23 and 720 K competition.  This led to great celebrations in Cloonfad on Sunday night.  Well done to all involved.

ABBEY PATTERN BALLYHAUNIS

The Abbey Pattern Ballyhaunis will take place this Sunday August 26th at 2.30pm in the Abbey Field. Family sport, fun and games afternoon. Last family outing before school re-opens.

APOSTOLIC WORKERS OF THE ARCHDIOCESE

The Annual Diocesan Display and Sale of Hand-Knits by Apostolic Workers of the Archdiocese, in aid of the Foreign Missions, will be held in St. Gerald’s Parish Centre, Castlebar on Saturday, 1st September, from 2.00pm –8.00pm and on Sunday, 2nd September from 12 noon – 6.00pm.

There will be a concelebrated Mass in the Parish Church at 3.00pm on Sunday 2nd September, 2001.

Cloonfad Utd –v- Ballinasloe Town in Cloonfad – Kick Off 2.30pm.

Cloonfad Utd are holding a race night on December 8th to help cover the huge cost of youth football.

CLOONFAD N.S.

Cloonfad National School reopens on Tuesday Sept 4th for pupils. Staff meeting on Monday Sep 3rd. We hope staff and pupils have a good school year ahead of them.

NEW APPOINTMENT

Mr. Fergus Glynn, Ballyglass, Ballintubber, Co. Mayo has been appointed to the teaching staff of Cloonfad N.S. Mr. Glynn will teach 3rd and 4th class and replaces Mrs. Eileen Gildea who takes up an appointment in Dunmore N.S. We wish them both health and happiness in their new appointments.

UNISLIM

Unislim takes place every Monday night at 8.30pm in the Hazel, Ballyhaunis. Classes recommence on Monday September 10th. Special Offer for joining in September. New and old members welcome.

OMBUDSMAN

Staff from the Office of the Ombudsman will be available to discuss details of complaints in confidence at O’Gara’s Royal Hotel, Castle Street, Roscommon on Wednesday 12th September, 2001 10am to 1pm; 2pm to 5.30pm; 6.30 to 7.30pm.
