RE-UNION 2002

The re-union group first attended Mass at St. Patrick's church in
Cloonfad and then retired to the LOCAL where memories were revisited and
time made up for years gone by.
Many people have asked how did it come about, well it's all because
of an idea Eddie Birmingham had almost three years ago. He thought
it would be nice to have a re-union of all the people of
Ballinross. It was mentioned to a few people who thought it was a
good idea and he was encouraged to go ahead with plans for it.
It was subsequently advertised in the 1999 issue of the Cloonfad
Magazine to give people overseas a chance to plan ahead. On
the advice of Michael McNamara, who was editor of the magazine at the
time, more villages were included with Ballinross for the re-union.
At that stage there wasn't even a committee formed - that came
about later. You know the rest with contact being made with as
many people as possible at home and abroad either by their families here
or by committee members.
We would like to extend a special word of thanks to all those who have
helped in any way to make this re-union possible. We hope you all
enjoy yourselves and maybe go away with some special memory. Take
care and GOD bless you all.
