PRAYER MEETING

Prayer Group meet as usual on Thursday at 8.30pm in the Community Centre.

PRIESTS SUMMER COLLECTION

Envelopes will be delivered this coming week for the Priests Summer Collection. I know some people have already handed in your contribution – To all those that have already contributed Many Thanks. If you receive another envelope please ignore it.

CEMETRY MASS

Mass will take place in Cloonfad Cemetry on Saturday evening August 4th D.V. at 8.15pm.

CEMETERY MAINTENANCE

We would like to thank the people from Tongragee & Carramore who took care of the lawn cutting in the cemetery during the month of June. We would ask the people from the Cloonfad Station area to take care of the cemetery for the month of July. Please come out on Monday evening July 16th at 8pm with the necessary equipment. We are asking for a large turnout and not leave it to a few people

DAY CARE CENTRE

A Coffee morning and Craft display in aid of the day care centre will take place after Mass on Sunday 15th July. A display of the Cloonfad Web Site will also take place during this event to highlight its contents which is broadcast all over the World. All are welcome.

BAPTISM

We welcome Daniel Alan Coyne (Tonragee) baptized in St.Patrick’s Church Cloonfad into our Christian community.

IRISH WHEELCHAIR ASSOCIATION

The Irish Wheelchair Association collection will be taken up at all Masses this weekend. Please support.

DUNBEAG CRECHE DUNMORE

CEMETRY MASS

Mass will take place in Cloonfad Cemetery on Saturday evening August 4th D.V. at 8.15pm.

CONGRATULATIONS

Congratulations to John Joe Fleming, Gurteen, Cloonfad and Regina Grealy, Tooreen, Ballyhaunis who got married in Tooreen Church on Saturday July 21st. We wish them a lifetime of health and happiness.

GRANLAHAN SPORTS

The Granlahan annual sports take place on Sunday July 22nd at 2pm. This is a very enjoyable day for the Parish, especially families. Please support.

BALLYHAUNIS SWIMMING POOL

Swimming lessons are being held in Ballyhaunis Swimming Pool in the coming week. Instruction will be given at all levels and will run Monday to Friday as follows, further information contact 0907 30993 or Deirdre at 087 6411628 :

Beginners 1.30 to 1.50pm

Improvers 1.50 to 2.30pm

Advanced 5 to 6pm.

MID CONNAUGHT ENVIRONMENTAL CONCERN GROUP

The committee of the above group held a public meeting in Dunmore during the week. A large crowd attended this very successful meeting and five people from the Dunmore Community have joined the above committee.

A public meeting will be held in Cloonfad Community Centre on Tuesday 31st July at 9.30pm.

This is a very important meeting and we would ask everybody to please attend.

CEMETRY MASS ….. CHANGE OF DATE

Due to the clash of Roscommon –v- Galway on Saturday evening August 4 in McHale Park, Castlebar at 6.15pm – the Cemetery Mass has been changed to Saturday evening August 11th at 8.15pm weather permitting D.V. to facilitate supporters of both counties. Sorry for any inconvenience caused.

CONGRATULATIONS

Congratulations to Sinead Moran, Lavallyroe and Kurt Rheinhart, Ballinteer, Dublin & Lavallyroe who got married in St. Patricks Church, Cloonfad on Saturday July 28th. We wish them a lifetime of health and happiness.

TUG OF WAR
Congratulations
to the Cloonfad Tug-of-War team on winning an All Ireland Silver Medal at the All Ireland Championships in Ballinrobe last Sunday in the 600kg section. Well done to all involved.

PRIMARY SCHOOL PLAYING FIELD

Following the advertisement of the tender for the development, two tenders were submitted. At a recent meeting the Board of Management of the school decided to award the contract to Mr. Tom Kearns following a secret ballot.

FAS

Applications are requested for the position of Secretary and General Operatives. Interested parties should contact M.Brennan, B.Cregg or M.Regan before Tuesday July 31st.

HOLIDAY DANCE

The annual Holiday Dance takes place in the Cloonfad Community Centre on Sunday night August 5th. Music is by the brilliant ABBA tribute band from Northern Ireland – ABBATASTIC. Admission Fee. Late Bar.

HELP NEEDED: Help needed next Saturday August 4 at 11am in the Community Centre as the stage is put up and the Hall is prepared for the Annual Holiday Dance. Please come along and help out.

We extend a Cead Mile Failte to all who are visiting the area at this time. Enjoy the holidays and take care on the roads.

CEMETERY CLEAN UP

Thanks to the people of the Cloonfad Station area who took care of the graveyard during the month of July. We would like the people from Mountdelvin, Ballinross, Culkeen, Benmore to meet in the cemetery on Monday Aug 6th at 8pm to cut the grass and arrange for the maintenance of the graveyard during August.

We welcome India Frances Costello, Pollaphuca baptised in St.Patricks Church Cloonfad into our Christian community.

PRIMARY SCHOOL PLAYING FIELD DEVELOPMENT

Work on the project will commence next week and continue for about 8 weeks. This is a big development because part of the school, community centre grounds will be included in the new field. There is much drainage involved and the contractor will be following a detailed drainage plan. It is hoped to have the playing field levelled and finished by September.

HOLIDAY DANCE

The annual Holiday Dance takes place in the Cloonfad Community Centre on Sunday night August 5th at 10pm. Music is by ABBA tribute band from Northern Ireland – ABBATASTIC. Admission Fee. Late Bar.

This is not a fundraising venture and the admission on the door will hopefully cover the cost of the band. It is hoped to have a good community night out and everybody is welcome. However we have been advised not to admit Under 18’s so please take note.

PRESENTATION: There will be a presentation on behalf of the community to John Cummins, All Ireland champion boxer at the Holiday Dance at approx 12midnight.

CLOONFAD MAGAZINE

  • Feature Village for next year’s edition will be Meeltrane, Derrylahan, Cloonarkin, and Hundred Acres.
  • Articles, old photographs, Wedding & 21st’s are needed and appreciated.
  • Competition for a cover Photograph – Winning photo will be the cover. Photo needs to be a local landmark or scene and is to exclude people.

Committee Meeting will be held on Wednesday Aug 8 at 9.30pm.

COMMUNITY GATHERING

A meeting to discuss the Gathering, which is being planned for the villages of Ballinross, Benmore, Culkeen, Mountdelvin, Pollaphuca and Pollinalty,willtake place on Tuesday Aug 7 at 9.30pm. All interested in the above gathering are asked to attend.
