Ballyhaunis Festival got under way on Friday last with a host of activities for all ages.  On Saturday the children enjoyed the delights of a bouncing castle as well as an introduction to Bob the Builder  and others.  The festivities go on until Monday (Bank Holiday) and the local commerce is expected to be well occupied.  Friday a number of stalls had been erected selling their wares and a number of other attractions, not seen by many before, made a reappearance.   A pot mender and bucket maker demonstrated the old style before plastic tool over.  A churn was on display with a fresh supply of country butter on sale.  The main street was the venue for the display and sale of all sorts of wares including slate mirrors, jewelry, fowl and  pigs .  At the crossroads the crowd was entertained by disco music which set the atmosphere right for the evening.

A section of the crowd enjoying the entertainment in the car park.
