The Lios

There is a lios in Carramore. It is situated in the land of Michael Keane. It is known as the "Fairy Lios" and it is in the form of a circle. There are three whitetorn bushes growing on top of it now.

The Tunnel

The entrance to the tunnel is in Michael Keane's land near the lios. It goes underground and open's in Quinns land near the Carramore river.

The Forges

In the past there were two forges in the parish. There was one in Carraclough and the other one was situated in Carramore near the river. Many people from the parish and passer-bys used to bring there horses to the forges to be shod. They also brought their farming equipment to the forges to be mended.

The forge in Carramore was in operation until the late forties. A man called Joyce was the first man to work there. Bob Tannian who was a great singer and character worked in the forge after Joyce and then Jim Pender worked there. The two forges are now in ruins.

The Blessed Well

The blessed well is in the land of Joe Derham. It is known as St.Columcille's well. Long ago many people took daily visits to the well. The people used to light candles at the well and throw coins into it. In the later years Pat Finn (RIP) found a mill and the archaeologists came and looked at it. They brought parts of it to the museum.
