David O'Brien following up got the goal and Paul Carton, Conal O'Neill and Thomas Foley with accuracy scoring the points from play and a threat for a goal the while. Davidstown got back into it with a point and a goal from distance. The low bright sun was a factor. At half time we led by a single point 1-5 to 1-4, having performed well against the stiff breeze. On resumption however we came to terms with their play and only gave them 2 points from frees and a 65 for the half, while scoring 0-9 ourselves. ACHL Prem B Final v HarriersStarted poorly, gave a 4 point lead to the Harriers and shipped a few early injuries, having to doctor up Gary Flood with a split thumb, and replace MJ and Tomas Kehoe with injuries too. But Martin Kehoe brought us back into the game with a well taken goal and Ben settled us down with a crisp point to bring us level midway through the 1st half. However we lost our way a bit again and gave them a lot of leeway allowing them to go further ahead- we were lucky to be only 0-3 down at the break. It was a spilling wet night as well which didn't suit us at all. Score was 0-9 to 1-3. In the second period we tightened up and held them to a few points while scoring 1-6 ourselves. Subs used: Barry Keating for Tomas Kehoe, Noel Kehoe for Tony Keating, Bubbles for MJ, Darren Mevlit for Noel Kehoe, Brendan Redmond for Barry Kehoe. ACHL 2B Semi Final v OLI Replay8th June. At Home this time. Having conceded an early goal and a point we settled down to hurl and between Martin Kehoe Jnr 0-2 and Paul Foley 1-5 (frees) went ahead midway through the half. Shane Denton latched onto 2 ground balls and gave us a half time cushion of 3-7 to 1-6. Foley and Martin had us 0-2 further ahead within minutes of the resumption. Leslie chipped in with a point from a run on the wing and Shane majored once more to leave us comfrotable. We brought on a few subs, OLI threw caution to the wind and brought up their centre back to threaten our defences and succeeded in getting a few goals before the end. Final score 4-14 to 3-12. Team James Kehoe; Victor, Noel, Chocs; Leslie, JP and Darren; Paul & Conal; Fonz, Peasty and Martin Jnr; Shane, Carton and Ken; Subs Davy for Ken, Mackie for Peasty, Colin Doyle for Carton.
ACHL 2B Final v St. John'sFriday 13th in Glynn/Barntown pitch. Martin Kehoe was on fire in the early stages and had scored 2 points and a goal before the first quarter was up. Paul Foley eventually found his range with a good free before the break. Meanwhile however we were punished for four indiscretions by 0-4 from frees plus an early single point from play by John's to leave just a point between the sides at half time. Shortly after the resumption when we made our first substitution Colin Doyle for Ken, Shane Denton won possession and passed on to Mackie Lambert who ground hurled it to the net. Paul Foley landed a 65 followed by a goal from a free from the 21 - a late foul on himself from where the ball landed. We were in the driving seat now 2 clear gaols ahead but John's started their come back straight away and rattled over some fine close in points in succession. It was tit for tat then with points from Mackie, Paul Foley 0-2 and our final score from distance by man of the match Darren Mevlit. John's got a penalty at the death which was saved but not cleared and they follwed it up to smash home their only major of the match to the sound of the ref's whistle leaving 0-2 between the teams at the finish. Cloughbawn won the spoils. Team was James Kehoe; Barry Denton, Noel Kielthy, Davin Murphy; Leslie Monaghan, J.P. Furlong, Darren Mevlit; Paul Foley & Conal O'Neill; Martin Kehoe, Fonz Kehoe, Sean Lambert; Shane Denton, Paul Carton, Ken Kennedy.
