Activities
Young Scientists
A team of Young Scientists regularly
participates in the Young Scientist Exhibition.
M.S. Readathon
The School is very pleased to be associated with
this charity in the promotion of literacy and reading skills. In
1999 our Junior students raided the shelves of the schools
well-stocked library and won the M.S. National Readathon Marathon.
Debating
The students benefit from a strong tradition of
Debating and Public Speaking in the school. The Students have reached
National Finals in all the major Debating Leagues and won the All
Ireland Concern Debate in 1996.
Musical
Our Musical Director has produced highly successful
and entertaining musicals in the school over the years. These include
The Sound of Music, Grease and The
Boyfriend. The productions co-star some students from local
boys schools. The musical, which involves assistance from
lighting and sound technicians and professional musicians, always
plays to packed houses.
Outdoor Pursuits
Transition Year students get to take on the challenges
of the outdoors in Recess, Connemara. Outdoor Pursuits in Transition
Year is always a popular option.
ECDL
Preparation for ECDL begins in Transition Year.
Fifth Year students then have the opportunity to take the ECDL exam.
Computer facilities are continually being updated to keep abreast
of modern technology.
Prize-Giving
A central part of the school calendar is our Annual
Prize-Giving Ceremony held in the final term. Students are encouraged
to achieve and excel in their academic, social and humanitarian
endeavours. Our guests-of-honour at Prize-Giving have come from
all walks of Irish life including politics, sport and the arts.
New Cafeteria
The cafeteria is a popular facility enjoyed by
the students who stay in school for lunch.
House System
Linked to the Cluny Missions, the House System
helps students from all years to get to know each other and to support
the Cluny Missions globally.
