Transition Year

A very successful Transition Year has been in operation since 1987. The Staff at St. Joseph of Cluny are committed to innovation and have the experience and understanding to bring out the best in our students.

It is our intention that the Transition Year, with its various modules, activities and mainstream programme, will help to promote the intellectual, personal, social and vocational development of our pupils.

In Transition Year the normal range of academic subjects is enhanced by modules such as Art and Crafts, Media Studies, Computer Studies, Drama, Singing and Dance, Public Speaking, Self Defence, First Aid, Yoga, and Newsletter Production.

Other elements during Transition Year include an Outdoor Pursuits course, school outings, work experience and participation in a Community Service Programme, the Young Entrepreneurs’ Scheme and Gaisce.

External Certification is available in such areas as Self Defence, Computers (ECDL) and An Gaisce (The President’s Award Scheme).
