General Introduction

Ógra Chorcaí Ltd. - the Cork Youth Association was founded in 1966 to support voluntary youth leaders in their work with the young people of Cork to help provide activities for young people.

Aims & Objectives

To engage young people in developmental and educational opportunities in order that they may more fully participate in their community and society.

Programmes

Youth Club Development Programme

  • Junior Youth Clubs: 8-12 years. Senior Youth Clubs: 12-16 years
  • Summer Recreation Schemes
  • (4-14 years) Organised in local community by adults. Takes place over 1 month in over 20 venues, city and county.

Open Doors Programme

Resource and Training Centre - projects, exchanges, development education, training packs, equipment for hire. Open to all youth groups.

Special Projects

7 projects managed by Ógra Chorcaí on behalf of City of Cork V.E.C. catering for young people at risk between the ages of 10 and 25 years. The purpose of the project is to develop personal and social skills, redress inequalities experienced by many young people, empower young people to achieve their potential.
