 - Book of the Millennium - THE LAUNCH The launch of 'Enniscorthy 2000 - Book of the Millennium' took place on 15th of December of 1999 in the Riverside Hotel, Enniscorthy. It was launched by the Enniscorthy - Born writer Colm Toibín who was a 1999 booker prize nominee and has many major best-selling novels to his name. Tóibín spoke at the launch of his delight about the inclusion of internationally influentional Enniscorthy-ites who are today world renowned such as Eileen Grey and Sam Walsh, but was equally enthusiastic about the locals who also achieved their own degree of fame without having to go to abroad. Colm Tóibín pointed out to the large attendance at the launch that
night, is the fact that, probably due to their own collective sense of
modesty, there is no reference to those responsible for the 'inspired
