From 1848 - 1950 over 6 million adults and children emigrated from Ireland - over 2.5 million departed from Cobh, making it the single most important port of emigration.

[FOTA Wildlife Park]
Fota Wildlife Park, just 10 miles from Cork on the Cobh road, is among the most modern wildlife parks in Europe. Established in 1983 with the primary aim of conservation Fota has more than 70 species of exotic wildlife in open natural surroundings with no obvious barriers. Giraffes, zebras, ostrich and antelope roam together in 40 acres of grassland.
[The Ballymaloe Cookery School]
Darina Allen owns and runs the internationally renowned Ballymaloe Cookery School at Shanagarry, Co. Cork with her husband Tim Allen. A member of the International Association of Cooking Professionals, Euro-Toques, the Irish Food Writers Guild of Foodwriters in Britain, she won the Gilbeys of Ireland Gold Medal of Excellence in 1991 with Myrtle Allen for the contribution to the Irish catering and hospitality industry.
[WaterRock Golf Club]
Water-Rock pay play golf course is located five minutes from Midleton and twenty minutes from Cork City on the banks of the Owenacurra River. The course is located in a beautiful parkland setting commanding spectacular views of East Cork.
[East Cork Golf Club]
East Cork Golf Club was founded by Eamonn Moloney and his wife Peg, in May 1968 when they converted their dairy farm to a golf course. The farm is situated on the ourskirts of Midleton, bordered by two rivers, making it an ideal parkland location for a golf course.
[Youghal]
Situated on the coastline of East County Cork, there is no town in Ireland that gives you Ireland's past and present more vividly than Youghal (pronounced Yawl or as in "Y'all come to see us now!")
This historic walled seaport town adjoins a glorious 5km beach of Atlantic Surf. It has been recently designated by the Irish Tourism Board as an Irish Heritage Port, due to the many historic buildings and monuments within its ancient town walls.
