| Fifth Class decided to embark on a project
to enhance and develop the bird life of the school
grounds and also to develop an awareness of wildlife We began by feeding the birds. The parents volunteered to make bird tables and we bought feeders for these. The pupils were then able to watch the birds feeding during the following months and from this learnt to identify the birds of the playground, the foods they eat and the times at which the birds come to feed. |

| To date we've had many birds nesting including blue tits, house sparrows and robins. Our Bird and Butterfly Garden has been a very successful venture. More plants were added to the garden in 1997 and the children enjoy watching the seasons changing in the garden and also the comings and goings of our feathered visitors. | ![]() |

our pupils who are now past pupils who worked on this
project to visit the garden and see the fruits of their
efforts. |
