A Novel Idea !!

Myles Doyle of Avoca,Co Wicklow raised €2,775 for young people involved in Conary Foroige Youth Club and Avoca Youth Club by setting up a library for second hand books in the local recycleing centre.

Myles ,who is Facillity Manager of the Avoca Recycleing Centre, came up with the idea of staring the libarey in April 2005 when he saw how many books were being recycled. He thought that it was a shame that lots of perfectly good books were going to waste, so he approached Michael Nicholson , Director of Environmental Services, Wicklow Co. Co., to provide him with a Portacabin to house the library. All the books that now come into the recycleing centre are put into the library and lots of local people have also donated books they no longer want. Books can be taken out on loan for free, but people can make a donation if they wish.

The proceeds were handed over to the Youth Clubs on Feb. 13th, and a great night was had by all.

This year the money raised will go to the First Response Group in the area
