AH the memories!

The History of the Commodore 64

Where do you start talking on one of gaming's most important consoles? HHHMMM lets see...

Like the schoolyard debate on the Megadrive and the Snes, the Spectrum and C64 were always scrapping together. The C64 was always the winner(well in my oppinion anyway) and was home to classic games like Monty on the run, Pitstop 2, Spy Vs Spy, Boulderdash, Paradriod, Uridium, the list is endless!

With timeless classics such as these I was surprised to find that most americans hadn't heard of the machine! What makes this harder to believe is that Commodore claim to have sold more than 17 million C64's worldwide!

Doesn't it just scream 80's?

Throughout its life the C64 came in a number of flavours. There was the SX64 which featured a colour monitor and disk drive. This was marketed more towards the business side rather then the home user.

To mark the millionth sale in Germany Commodore released 200 golden C64's as a rare special edition...if any one out their has one and wants to sell it please contact me...

The C64 gave the world happiness, Jeff Minter, Rare and a shed load of memories and for that the C64 will remain one of the greatest platforms ever created!
