Near Death Experiences

Millions of people on the brink of death report leaving their bodies and
visiting other worlds. Is this proof of life after death, or just the final
thoughts of a dying brain?
An NDE (near death experience) occurs when a person dies and has visions of
the afterlife before being brought back to life. A survey in 1992 revealed
that over 13 million people in the US alone had undergone some sort of NDE.
But do they really happen?
The standard NDE begins with a dying person leaving their body and seeing
the world from a birds-eye view. They enter a tunnel ,at the end of which is
a bright light. Then, on entering the light, they feel a sensation of peace
(although for some people, this is replaced with visions of hell.) The
experiencer is asked questions about their life. They are then told, or come
to the conclusion that they still have things to accomplish. At this point
they are returned to their bodies.
The similarity of the experiences suggest that something is happening,
but the question remains: is this a journey to a spiritual plain or a dying
brain being starved of oxygen.
As of yet, there is no solid proof either way. It is the perfect lie, it's
unprovable and people want to believe it. But medical science suggests that
it is a result of anoxia (the brain being starved of oxygen.)
So, what is the truth? All we know for certain is that the answer will be
revealed the day we die. Science can only explain so much, but there is so
much left unexplained.
