Allihies RIC Barracks Attacked
In a continuation of their tactic of attacking more remote RIC barracks,  the West Cork Brigade mounted an offensive at Allihies on February 12th., 1920. At around 4 a.m. the volunteers exploded a bomb at the gable end of the building which caused extensive damage. The blast wounded two policemen, one of whom died later that day from his wounds.

The dead man was thirty two years old Michael Neenan, originally from Co. Clare where he was a farmer before joining the RIC in 1907.
