Results of Spring Pony Finals

Cavan Equestrian Centre, 10^th – 12^th April 2009

Despite a few heavy April showers, the final of the Cavan Equestrian Centre Spring League for ponies was very well attended over the Easter weekend. Showjumping got under way on Friday with a full range of classes for all pony sizes and continued well into the evening. The same classes were repeated on Saturday and all pony sizes could choose from Grand Prix’s on Sunday or more novice events. The competition was fierce and the pace hectic as the competitors put their mounts through the very demanding courses set for the event.

The full set of results for this spectacular weekend of showjumping were as follows, with Molly O’Shea of Blackrock in Cork on Creative Dancer, her 138cm pony taking away the prize of Leading Rider for the overall event. Cork riders were well represented with the Sweetnam family from Clonakilty, Katie, Jeremy, Ellen, Holly and 8-year-old Abbey winning no less than 8 of the classes, not to mention being placed many times. Brian Crowley and Mark O’Callaghan were also in the line up on several occasions. Also representing this region were the O’Sullivan sisters and Brosnans from Kerry.
