External Programme

Courses Conducted in HTC Law School

 

These courses will prepare eligible students for the
University of London Law Degree examinations.

 

LECTURES AND EXAMINATION CENTRE

 

All lectures are conducted in the Law School. The College holds a local Centre for the University of London examinations and students take their examinations in the College. Law examinations are held in May/June.

 

ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS

 

There are no course related requirements for the LLB degree.

 

(i)

One B-grade and four C-grades in the higher papers of the Department of Education (Irish) Leaving Certificate Examination.

(ii)

Passes in two subjects at GCE A-Level and not less than grade C in three further subjects at GCE O-Level.

(iii)

Graduates holding a recognised Diploma or Degree in any discipline.

(iv)

Mature students: consideration will be given to students over the age of 21.

 

 

An access course is available for students who do not satisfy the University of London entrance requirements.

 

DURATION OF COURSE

An LLB Degree can take three or four years. A student may follow one of two schemes:

Scheme A:

this is the three year degree in its traditional format. It is divided into three parts:

(i) Intermediate Laws (ii) LLB Part 1 and (iii) Part 2.

Scheme B:

this is a four year course intended for students who wish to study at a slower pace.

  Here the Intermediate Laws, Part I and Part II examinations of Scheme A are divided into four parts.
Graduate Entry Route A: this is a two year degree programme.

Transfer from Scheme A to Scheme B

GRADUATE ENTRY ROUTES A and B

 

Graduate Entry: Graduates holding a recognised Degree in any discipline. A graduate who holds a degree by examination awarded by an institution acceptable to the University for this purpose, but who is not eligible for exemption from the Intermediate Examination may proceed to the LLB degree by Graduate Entry Route A (minimum two years) or Graduate Entry Route B (minimum three years).
