Profile: Morgan Angel (Vocals)

Name: Morgan Deane

DOB: 20-12-81

Favourite Bands: I have a big mix of bands. I like PARADISE LOST, MY DYING BRIDE, going straight to PANTERA and MORBID ANGEL, CANNIBAL CORPSE. There's a big variety of metal there... I like THE KINKS as well... I'm a vocalist; I like lyrics. There's a lot of [successful] bands out there and they have bad lyrics. They don't deserve it.

Why CORRUPTED??? It's a funny story. I was actually at a party in Emmet's house and Antony was there. We were sitting around, listening to some CDs and a PANTERA song came on, Good friends and a Bottle of Pills. I said, "I know this one!" and I started messing around. The screaming part came on and I was sitting there... "Whaaaaaaaaaah...!" Antony was sitting there, curled up on his chair, laughing his head off. Emmet (or maybe Dave) came in and was, like, "Who's doing THAT!?" I was, "Oh shit! It was me!" They said "You're fuckin' hired!" So that's how I got in the band. Pure chance.

First gig with the band... Okay? Well, our second gig was the worst... It was horrible. Everyone had mad heads on them... I was gettin' given out to, left, right and centre. Everyone was pissed off that night. It just went terrible. The next gig was probably our best. It was the Halloween one. It was our best one in the Gasworks anyway. We played there eight times in all. The BLAST gig [March 24th] was our best one...

What would you most like to get into as a singer? I'd like to do a side project of more mellow stuff. But with the band itself I'd like to mix in the melodic singing with the very, very heavy. I think that'd be great for CORRUPTED itself. I write a lot of lyrics for the band... "Goregasm"... That's just a real "hacking... kill 'em all"... Then we have songs like "Circles of Nine". That's sort of a love song. It's underneath, you know?

Your style of singing is not Karen Carpenter... No. (Laughs) What I'd like to do is deep lyrics that people can actually relate to as opposed to demons and angels and all this.

How do you take criticism? I like criticism as something to learn from.

What's your biggest gripe about the local music scene? I don't think there's enough venues for metal bands. That's about it.

Favourite movie? The Star Wars trilogy. Closely followed by Natural Born Killers.
