Heart to Hand
Every
year, the school takes part in the
Heart to Hand Bosnian Appeal and it was a great success.
We are
asked to put any of the following items in a shoe box: cap, scarf,
gloves, copy, pencil, crayons, markers, colouring book, sweets,
chocolate or a very small toy.
We are asked to wrap the
box with Christmas wrapping paper and indicate on the outside of the
parcel whether it was suitable for a boy or girl and the age group it
was suitable for.
The boxes are collected
from the school in November, for transportation to the orphanages by
Irish volunteers on Christmas Day.
Later last year we got to
see, on video, the presents being delivered to the children of Bosnia.
It was very touching but
the most poignant thing about the video was, it was so obvious that
for many of them it was the first Christmas present they
had ever received. The children held their present , rubbed the
Christmas wrapping and had to be helped by the volunteers to open it.
