Following on from the success of achieving our second Green Flag based on the theme of Energy, the Green Schools Committee, in consultation with school staff decided to spend this year consolidating work covered on the themes of “Litter and Waste” and “Energy”.

We decided to hold one intensive Green Week per term to focus attention on our themes for the year and to assess our progress.

During this week, a variety of surveys are carried out and all the children are involved in the process. The week culminates with a Green Schools Assembly during which all results are reported back on and displayed by the children themselves on the Green Schools Noticeboard. This way we can see if we are making progress in achieving goals set out in our termly action plan.

We now have 316 girls using a sandwich box daily.

Only 2 children bring a Capri Sun to school. Only 2 children bring a Capri Sun to school.

Only 6 children bring a tetra-pak to school. Only 6 children bring a

tetra-pak to school.

Our results indicate that we have been making great progress towards achieving our goals.

Weekly energy usage is also monitored.

Units on Mondays and Tuesdays have been greatly reduced, indicating that the children have been making a huge effort.

After a year of hard work and consolidation, we now look forward to undertaking the challenge of the “Water” theme next year.
