The area directly outside the school railing is a 'no parking area'.

Cars are not allowed into the Convent Grounds under the archway. Neither should they block the

school  or staff car park entrance, morning, lunchtime or evening.

  Healthy Eating

The Healthy Eating Policy of our school was implemented in September 2005. This policy was formulated by the school Healthy Eating Development Group, consisting of three teachers, two parents, two pupils and the community dietician in April 2005. Following a comprehensive lunch box survey, 99% of parents felt that a healthy eating approach needed to be implemented throughout the entire school. The Healthy Eating Policy was established with the aim of promoting life-long eating habits and to provide a foundation for healthy living in all it's aspects. This shall be accomplished through increasing pupil's knowledge and awareness of what constitutes a healthy diet. The policy applies to all pupils. However, provision is made for pupils in exceptional circumstances.

In line with our Healthy Eating Policy, just to remind you of the following:

   The Weight of School Bags:

As the weight of school bags is an issue of concern for parents and teachers alike, we would like you to be aware that in relation to this matter, the school has done the following:

  • Provided storage facilities for children to leave books in school.

  • Advised children to take home only those books which they need for homework.

Out of concern to resolve this issue comprehensively, we respectfully ask parents to do the following please:-

  • Check children’s bags regularly.

  • Refrain from allowing children to put unnecessary items in bags.

  • Check that unnecessary books are not brought home for homework.

We would also like to bring the following to your attention in the interest of the safety of all our pupils;-

  •         Children who have bags with wheels are inclined to bring  unnecessary items in their

                bags.

  •        Bags on wheels are difficult to balance.

  •        They can cause a child to trip or stumble.

  •        They don’t fit comfortably under tables and therefore can be a hazzard in the classroom.

  •        The child pulling a bag on wheels can be distracted very easily by watching the bag,

causing another child to trip or trip herself.

 Thank you for your co-operation.
