This year we have two small Sixth Classes. As a result the teacher has so much more time to devote to each individual child. The children have benefitted considerably from this. Ms. Marian Keane teaches one of the Sixth classes while Mr. Gearoid Roughan teaches the other Sixth. Both Ms. Keane and Mr. Roughan are new to the staff since September. Project work is an important part of Sixth class as it helps develop several skills essential for later life - co-operation, planning, research skills etc. Both classes have used PowerPoint to publish their projects. They have used the digital camera to add images to their presentations and they are now incorporating audio as well. Their latest project is a Newsletter produced and published by the children using Microsoft Publisher. The children take it in turns to be the Editor, Journalists, Advertising manager etc. The newsletter is called "The Scoil Chríost Rí Times"
Both classes contribute regularly to The Poetry Club. Each week a new poem is selected as poem of the week. This week's Poem of the Week is an accrostic poem, written by Leo, entitled "Summer" Summer is not my kind of season Under this line I'll give you my reason My eyes hurt My hair is full of dirt Evenings are also roasting and bright Really I wish it was night Back to Senior Classes |
