The Launch of the Green School Project.

Mr Keaveney came to our school to tell us about what happens to the litter we drop. He showed us scrunched up plastic bags. He told us that when the bags are dropped on the beach they are washed into the sea. The sea creatures eat them. The rubbish can kill wildlife and sea life.

Mr Keaveney showed us a picture of a rubbish dump full of plastic bags, tins, bottles and packaging. When the dump was is full people bury the rubbish and hope it will go away….but he showed us a picture of the dump when it was dug up ten years later and it looked just the same!!!!

We talked about ways to REUSE things, like jars to hold nails or milk bottles to carry water for picnics. Mr Keavney told us about the 3R's REUSE - REDUCE - RECYCLE. He asked us to think how we can REUSE-REDUCE - RECYCLE in our lives. At the end of his talk he played his guitar and sang a song called the 3r's.
