PROJECT PROPOSAL

As you can see from the image above my idea for the project is an on-line dating service. The projected target will be students so when they have a break they can have a quick look at whom the service thinks are suitable for them. To do this in three pages will be a bit of a challenge but I have an idea it could work something like this…

PAGE 1:

The initial page will be the introductory screen. Here you will find information on the service and a member’s login field where people who have already entered their details to the database can skip through to the selection pages.

PAGE 2:

This will be the source of information the database will work from

One side of the page will contain various fields and tick-boxes, which will build into a profile of the user. Name, address, age etc.

On the other side there will be more tick-boxes, which will point out to the computer what the user’s desired date will be like.

PAGE 3:

This page will contain the computer’s selection of date matches for the user. If the user is a member and has logged in from the introductory screen he will be taken directly here. An email address for each person chosen will be given along with a short description, a personal message from that person and, as yet undecided, a photograph where available. The rest is left to the user and to cupid!

THOUGHTS ON THE PROPOSAL:

Well the first problem that springs to mind is the fact of using a database of information for gathering and retrieval on line. It is something I know nothing about so it may be unfeasible for me to create the idea at all. Another problem is whether or not I can make it interesting enough within three pages to keep the user interested. I know I’d definitely rather scour through the database but then if that option isn’t open to the user then I don’t suppose this raises a problem. What questions to ask and how this information is stored, retrieved etc. is also an issue.
