About UsBeir bua agus beannacht. "Curach Corcaigh" is a sort of an informal club - a loose collection of a few people in Cork City, Ireland, who are interested in rowing and sailing Currachs and Naomhógs, in the history of these craft and in the leisurely dissemination of information about them. The emphasis is on recreation; we're quite relaxed about all of this and the craic is just as important as the serious stuff if not more so.We have a Currach which we row off the coast of Cork in our spare time and we occasionally carry passengers. Eventually, we hope to fit a sail to the boat to cut down on the physical exertion. In the meantime, a popular part of these trips is the usual call into a small coastal village or town for a bit of a rest and a regenerating pint or cup of tea. Following below are a few pictures of some of the people involved in "Curach Corcaigh". Those of you who are viewing this site outside of Ireland might also be interested in the background views of the coastal terrain which is typical of this part of the island. If you are interested in Currachs and find the physiognomies presented above to be not too offputting, don't hesitate to e-mail us with any comments, suggestions or requests that you might have.
