Interior
When choosing a colour scheme for your project, other factors such as lighting, room size and functionality need to be taken into account. We can advise on the above and also on the type of paint which is suitable for your particular need.

Exterior
Preparation is everything when it comes to decorating areas that are open to the elements. There are various products that can be added to your paint to help adhesion and give your paint finish a longer life. However, there is no substitute for thorough surface preparation. 'Fail to prepare - prepare to fail'.

Colour Washing
Most often this finish is achieved with water based paint. A mid- sheen base coat is applied and allowed to dry. This allows the top glaze coat to be moved around when applied. The top coat is a mixture of glaze and paint, brushed on in random directions over lapping to give the desired effect. Sponges, cloths, etc can be used to give varied effects. Base colours should always be lighter than the glaze coat

Wood Graining
This paint effect can be used to great effect to easily change the appearance of floors, doors, pannelling, architraves, skirtings and kitchen units. An egg-shell base coat is applied and dried before a glaze coat is applied and grained with a graining tool. Various tools can be used depending on the wood effect required.

Marbling
This paint effect can be traced back to Roman times. It was used when real marble could not be used becaues of weight or structural restrictions. Now a days, marbling is very popular and can transform any room to give a luxurious look. Ball and claw baths, plaster pillars and columns, fireplace surrounds etc can easily be transformed without any fuss.

Faux Limestone
This paint effect creates a feeling of space and can make a room appear larger. A mid-sheen undercoat (usually a creamy-white) is applied. When this is dry, the block-work is marked off with a pencil and the glaze is applied to each individual block, giving a natural look. To finish the block-work is lined with a white line.

Dragging
A very subtle paint effect which creates a clean look. This can be used on furniture and walls. Often used on the lower part of a wall, divided by a stencil border and a wash applied to the top part of the wall.
