World Cup Trout Fly Angling Competition As the ISP has had problems maintaining the official World Cup Page, here's my unofficial page. The link to the Official page is at the bottom. The World Cup is Ireland's largest and most popular open angling event. Held on Lough Mask in the West of Ireland since 1953. The 9,300ha lake contains three different species of wild brown trout, and the competition attracts 600 anglers each year. Overseas categories are included in the prizes to the value of £IR20,000 each year, and a special welcome is extended to all overseas competitors. The competition takes place each year with four heats on the four days leading to the first Monday in August. One angler in four will qualify to compete in the final, which takes place on the first Monday in August, which is also an Irish Bank Holiday. Competition dates 1999
