SAILING INSTRUCTIONS

1. Organising Authority and Rules
1.1 The Organising Authority is Dublin Bay Sailing Club. This event is governed by the Racing Rules of Sailing (RRS) , the prescriptions of the Irish Sailing Association (ISA), the appropriate class rules,IRC and ECHO handicapping system rules, the Notice of Race (all except as modified by these sailing instructions) and these sailing instructions (SIs). Appendices A,B, C & D form part of these instructions.

1.2. The event is classified as Category A in accordance with RRS Appendix G.

2. Eligibility
2.1 Eligible boats are those in the classes listed on the Notice of Race which comply with the relevant Class Rules and handicapping system rules and entry requirements.
2.2. The safety of a boat and her crew is the sole and inescapable responsibility of the owner(s) or the owner's representative whose obligation it is to ensure that the boat is fully sound, seaworthy, manned by an experienced crew and equipped with all the neces sary safety gear. Neither these Sailing Instructions nor any action of the organising authority in any way limits or reduces the complete and unlimited responsibility of the owner(s) or owner's representative.

2.3. Attention is drawn to RRS Part 1.

2.4 Boat owners and competing crews shall ensure that they are adequately insured against loss, damage or injury to persons, boats or equipment at all times and however occurring and shall maintain third party insurance cover of not less than one million Irish pounds (IR£1,000,000).

2.5. No responsibility shall be accepted by Dublin Bay Sailing Club, its members, servants or agents, nor those officials or members connected with the event for any loss, damage, injury or other claim of whatever nature howsoever arising or caused in connection with participation in, or intended participation in, this event.

3. Changes in Sailing Instructions and Notices to Competitors
Changes in sailing instructions and/or Notices to Competitors will be posted on the official regatta notice board of the National  Yacht Club (which will be situated in the vicinity of the Race Office) and may be repeated on notice boards in the Dun Laoghaire Motor Yacht Club, the Royal IUrish  Yacht Club and the Royal St. George Yacht Club, before 0930 hrs on the day they shall take effect, except that any change in the schedule of races, will be posted before 21 00 hrs on the day before it shall take effect.

4. Signals made ashore
Signals made ashore will be displayed from the yardarm of the Royal Irish Yacht Club and may be repeated on the yardarms of the Dun Laoghaire Motor Yacht Club, the Royal St. George Yacht Club, and the National yacht Yacht Club.

5.Designating the Course
The course shall be designated as set out in Sections A and B

Race 2 : 24th. August.- Windward/Leeward (Section A).

The Warning Signal for Class O as soon as possible after the end of Race 1 for all classes. Starting sequence as Race 1 above.

Race 3: 25th August. Windward/Leeward (Section A)

Starting times and sequence as Race 1 above.

Race 4 :25th.August: Fixed Mark Course (Section B).

The Warning Signal for Class O as soon as possible after the end of Race 3 for all classes. Starting sequence as Race 1 above.

7. Handicaps and division of Classes
7.1 Boats will be handicapped on the following basis:
Classes 0, 1 ,2: IRC /ECHO
Sigma 33: One Design

7.2 Boats will be divided on the basis of their ISA Standard ECHO Handicap or IRC handicap to apply as follows (subject to the Committee's right to allocate a boat to any class):
