Starting Schedule 2002 Season

Boats will start either at the West Pier Hut or at the committee-boat (usually MacLir) in accordance with the schedule below. They will be divided into fleets as follows:
Blue Fleet:  (designated thus g ) Cruisers 1- 4, Sigmas 33, DB24s, 
Red Fleet :  (designated thus g ) 1720s, Shipmans, Ruffians, Glens, Flying 15s. Mermaids
Green Fleet:(designated thus g ) Dragons, J24s.

Fleets starting at the Hut, will be signaled by the display of boards bearing the fleet colour placed on the inside wall of the West Pier near the Hut. The waterfront clubs and Dun Laoghaire Marina will be asked to display flags of the same colour under the DBSC burgee on their yardarms. If the fleet division colour is not so displayed, classes shall start from the committee boat flying the DBSC burgee on its signal mast.

The Finishing Line will be at the Hut, except when shortened have been signaled (See below).

On Saturdays, Flying 15s and Mermaids will continue to race, on the dinghy course in Seapoint Bay in accordance with Course card 4. On Saturdays also, Dragons and J24s will continue to race on the Olympic Course in accordance with Course Card 3. Ruffians and Glens will race on the Olympic course on the four special Saturdays shown in the keelboat programme and in Course Card 3. 

The Race Officer may repeat this information on VHF Channels 72 (Hut) and 74 (Committee Boat). Failure to receive such information shall not constitute grounds for redress. The committee vessel will be stationed in the vicinity of Harbour Mark. On Saturdays the committee vessel for the green fleet (Dragons, J24s) will be stationed at its usual position on the eastern side of the Bay.

Shortening the Course: Courses may be shortened by the committee boat taking up position beside any of the marks of the course and displaying a blue flag, Flag S, class flags if appropriate and making two sound signals on the approach of the leading boats. The finishing line for such shortened courses will be between the mark and the signal mast of the committee boat.
