"You have succeeded in life when all you really want is only what you really need." ~ Vernon Howard
It's easy to make a real difference
to the environment through the
choices we make in our everyday
shopping.
The fact that we readily accept
over-packaged goods, encourages
manufacturers to use large,
glitzy, environmentally unfriendly
packaging.
Pressure from all of us
can change this. For example, pressure
from the general public led to
the removal of CFCs from the
majority of aerosols. Now, that’s
people power!
So, how can we choose products
that are best for us and the environment?
(see www.raceagainstwaste.com
for more ideas)
Do I need that new top, or might
I find one in a second-hand shop?
Should I buy Irish apples without
packaging, or fair trade bananas
from Ecuador?
Is my buying hurting other people
and the environment elsewhere?
Not all
choices are
straightforward, and
some are
down to what
we can afford.
Buying less
is always a
good option.
