Up the Banner!
Ennis grew up around the Franciscan Friary, built around 1240. It has lots to offer its citizens and visitors. Our town is in a boom period with fast growing suburbs. This has caused a large increase in traffic and pollution problems.
The town centre is compact and easy
to walk around, with some quiet pedestrian
streets. The lovely Farmers' Market, busy on Friday mornings,
is a great place to buy local and some organic produce.
Ennis has many local craft shops, bicycle shops, second hand charity shops,
art galleries and much more. Supporting local businesses is essential for a long term sustainable
economy. Otherwise, large chain stores tend to put local shops out of business.
