Sweatshops

As more things we buy come from across the world, often big companies treat workers badly, by paying slave wages, employing children, and banning unions.

This happens in developing nations like Thailand, and Mexico 1, but in some first world nations too. Most of the coffee and chocolate we buy is produced by slave labour.

A UK documentary, "Slavery", (2000), claims 90% of Ivory Coast cocoa plantations use slave labour.2 ‘Sweatshop' brands like Nike and Adidas have been investigated by independent journalists and found to be breaking employment laws.1 More ethical choices are now available.
