How ecological is Ireland?
The more we buy and consume, the bigger our Ecological Footprint (EF) becomes. Question - How many planet earths would we need if every person on earth lived like Irish people?

In 2004, The World Wildlife Fund calculated Ireland’s EF in The Living Planet Report*, at over 6 global hectares per person. 2 global hectares per person is the fair earthshare. That means, if everyone on the planet lived like we do, we would need 3 planet earths! We need to reduce our consumption by two thirds!
(A global hectare is one hectare of biologically productive space adjusted to world average biomass productivity allowing meaningful comparisons across regions to be made.)
