Our landscaped garden area you reach
within a few seconds, golf courses you'll find 10, 20 or 30 minutes
away (with a car) near Nenagh, Portumna, Roscrea, Birr and Thurles
(approx. 1hr). Pitch & putt is possible at Borrisokane,
Nenagh, Portumna. Playing tennis eg. at Ballinderry (8 min.) or
Terryglass (12 min.). If you want to go horse riding, it is
possible 20 min. away. We also lend out bicycles.

Or visit some of the numerous castles,
partially still inhabited eg. Ballaghmore Castle (40 min.), Redwood
Castle (20 min.). Some times of the year they are open to
the public. Near the grounds of Portumna Castle (20 min.)
the remaining parts of a Dominican priory are worth a visit and
in the adjoining forest park there are forest walks, hiking/nature
trails up to 2 hours and viewing points.

In Lorrha (15 min.) you will find the
remains of a Dominican friary and a church from the 12th century,
nearby as well Lackeen Castle.

Don't miss a visit to Birr Castle (20-25
min.) with its beautiful extensive park and gardens and The National
Birds of Prey Centre. There you can also see a restored telescope
- for 70 years the biggest one in the world - and an astronomical
exhibition.

For the friends of nature it is interesting
to go on a trip to the Silvermines / Slievefelim or Slieve Bloom
Mountains (30/40/45 min.) walking around or hiking.

Or enjoy one of those unique, up to
3.5 hours long walking trails at Fairymount Farm, a magnificent
working farm, 15 min. away

If you like to follow the process how
whiskey was produced in the past, visit e.g. ´Locke´s
Distillery Museum´ in Killbeggan (50 min.) or more far away,
the ´Old Middleton Distillery´ in Middleton, Co. Cork.

Or would you like to travel some kms
with the Clonmacnoise / West Offaly railway through the Blackwater
bog (45 min.).

Clonmacnoise, one of the holiest places
in Ireland, an ancient monastic site with round towers, high crosses
and grave stones / slabs is really worth a visit (50/55 min.).

Nearby (Clonmacnoise) you'll find the
An Dún Transport and Heritage Museum (eg. Vintage cars &
agricultural things).

There are also some open pet farms
worth seeing for families with children,--- eg. Lusmagh Farm (25
min.), Ashbrook Farm (50 min.), Turoe Farm / Park (50 min.) and
Glendeer Farm (1hr 10 min.).

Day trips are possible to the famous
Rock of Cashel, Kilkenny (Castle & Park), The Japanese Gardens
of Kildare - all appox. 1hr 30 min. away - or to the west
coast with the Cliffs of Moher or the Burren area, or visit Galway
(1hr 20 min.), from there you will reach Connemara with its magnificent
scenery.
