St. Declan's N.S. is situated in the middle of the Garden City estate in Ashbourne Co. Meath. This school has been in
existence here since 1977, when the school in the village (Scoil Mhuire) could no longer cater for the growing number of children in the area.
It is a sixteen-classroomed school with an open plan area.

St. Declan's N.S. subscribes to the general principles of the National School Curriculum which are:

To enable the child to live a full life as a child.
To equip the child to avail himself/herself of further education so that he/she may go on to live a full and useful life as an adult.
To promote the spiritual welfare of our children and to ensure a sound social, moral and
religious education.
To encourage children to achieve high standards of work and behaviour and to develop self responsibility.
To encourage them to be self-confident, tolerant, co-operative and self disciplined.
To help them to learn the importance of punctuality, honesty, loyalty and consideration for others.
To value each child as an individual and to develop self-esteem and so prepare him/her to avail of further appropriate education.
To encourage critical evaluation and reasoned judgement and to develop an awareness of beautiful things and of the heritage around us.
