Article from Page 5 of the DAILY MIRROR of Monday, February 15, 1971.

IT'S D-day. But it needn't worry you, or confuse you. The Mirror's Decimal Guide will help you with the new price system. You can use it to check decimal amounts against the old £sd prices. YOU CANNOT use it to choose whether you pay the £sd or the £p price. From today shops will deal in either £p or £sd prices, not both. You will be able to tell which system is in use by the way the goods are marked. It will still be possible to use your old pennies and 3d bits. But they will have to be paid in 6d (2½p) amounts. This is the ONLY way you can buy something by mixing old and decimal coins. Remember: The new ½p, 1p and 2p coins will now be given to you in your change. If you do not have the exact money, give more and get change. Cheques should be made out in the new money.
