The Aldieve |
|||||||||||||||||||
Dark spirits of the natural world who can materialise into human form through mans desire. Once awakened, an Aldieve entraps the unsuspecting mortal through enchantment, capturing his spirit. Toying with her victim she laughs as she slowly drains his vitality until he becomes no more than a lifeless shell. When she tires of her game, she returns to her natural environment to boast of her conquest over man. |

Mythology is full of stunningly beautiful faery-like females, forever waiting in the wings to seduce some poor unsuspecting mortal male. Most common are the sirens, whose haunting laments have lured many a fisherman to his death. The Aldieve are some such creatures, although they are land-dwellers, preferring to take advantage of the many hiding places the glades and commons give up to them. It was Andrew who named these bewitching seductresses. He has a natural gift for inventing imaginary races of people, as well as one for being able to always come up with the right thing at just the right time. The moment the name rolled off the edge of his tongue we knew it was perfect. I truly believe that such a powerful name deserves more credit than just three simple designs. Even the description, which accompanies each design, seems to give only a glimpse into something that should be more. Who knows, maybe one day when time frees up a little for Andrew, he may just decide to breathe real life into Esme, Leia and Suya. |
